Tasting Notes

Cherry Cola

The Bolavens Plateau in South Laos is the most favourable region for coffee cultivation in the country. The region boasts high elevations (up to 1,350masl), rich volcanic soils, and a moderate climate with plentiful sunshine, rainfall and a low risk of frost. The gentle slopes of the plateau negate many of the farming challenges posed by more mountainous and varied terrain.

This Gesha lot is naturally processed. Strictly ripe cherries are washed, floated to select the highest density cherries and then dried in a greenhouse on raised African beds for 15-20 days.

Your coffee brewing method determines the coffee grind level you require and with our available options of bean, coarse, medium and fine you'll able to find what you need.

    - Coarse grind if you brew with a french press/ plunger/ cafetiere

    - Medium grind if you brew using a percolater/ V60/ filter/ Aeropress

-Fine grind if you use a moka pot/ bialetti/ espresso machine

If you are buying coffee as a gift and are unsure what grind level to buy we would suggest going for Coarse (cafetiere/ cold brew). Chances are your coffee-loving recipient will be able to use this coffee and won't be disappointed, even if they own a coffee grinder!

Whole bean coffee is the ideal option as it allows the coffee to stay fresher for longer and you can "dial in" the perfect grind setting for your brewing device. If you've fallen down the coffee rabbit hole like us we highly recommend getting yourself a coffee grinder. It's a game changer!

The ultimate way to keep coffee tasting fresh is to buy whole bean, grind at home and consume within 6 weeks of the roast date. However, our carbon neutral coffee bags, made in the Netherlands, keep coffee beans and ground coffee fresher for longer using valve technology and high quality materials.

Store your coffee in a cool and dark place.

We support Blackdog Outdoors, a mental health charity and platform that helps people to re-connect with the great outdoors by putting on free outdoor events around the UK including walking, climbing, cycling and paddle sports.

For every bag of coffee we sell, including wholesale, we give 30p. For every £150 we raise this pays for a Mountain Leader.

    Smooth and Sweet

When I opened the packet and smelled the bean the first thing I could smell was cola, which was interesting since I hadn't read the notes on the packet.

It has a smooth taste with a slightly sweet aftertaste as an espresso.

Once again, great coffee from Carringtons :)
